How I Can Help

I see people who have anxiety, stress, worry, panic, OCD, depression, alcohol and other addiction issues, and eating disorders. I also have an interest in personality, career choices, dealing with difficult people, creativity and anything to do with relationships. I also enjoy working with those whose loved one has a mental illness.

I really enjoy helping people not just get back to their normal selves, but become a better version of themselves.

I use a wide range of evidence-based therapies, along with other modes of therapy depending on our shared understanding of your needs.

  •   Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  •   Eye movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  •   Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  •   Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT)
  •   Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

I integrate leading edge clinical research in to help you find effective strategies to help with your concerns. I love to work with your existing personality, strengths, resources and cultural background. I do not see people as broken and in need of fixing but more of a work-in-progress to be the best they can.

I believe people behave the way they do for good reasons and I take a compassionate approach to your issues. Depending on what you want, I can use evidence-based therapies to work through past hurts, restore better resilience for the future and help you develop more coping strategies in the present.

As a member of the International Centre of Clinical Excellence, I am dedicated to ensuring my therapy works and so I survey with you its effectiveness session by session using an outcome-rating scale and session-rating scale. I always like to get feedback from you so I can adjust my clinical skills to find the best way to help you have a richer, fuller and more meaningful life.

More About Me

My interest in working with people’s strengths and personality profiling has led to consultancy work teaching corporates about the different gifts from different personality types. This work has included writing a money personality profiler for the Retirement Commission. The profiler can be found at sorted.org.nz.

My other big area of interest is creativity. This has seen me work for several years in advertising with creative teams. I have researched extensively about how the creative mind works, the creative process and how to nurture ideas people. I have worked with senior managers on how to employ creative people and on their leadership programmes. In 2002, I co-authored the book “Kickstart your creativity” with former Executive Director of Saatchi and Saatchi New Zealand Mike Hutchison.
